ANDIZHAN. May 18 (Interfax) - One of the persons who organized last
week's protests in the eastern Uzbek city of Andizhan has been
identified, Uzbekistan's Interior Minister Zakir Almatov told
journalists on Wednesday.
"He is Kobil Parpiyev, born in 1963," Almatov said.
Parpiyev, an activist of the Akramia extremist movement, was not
involved in any of the criminal cases opened against this organization,
the minister said.
